Home » Search Jobs » Job Detail Learn More about this Employer in their Profile Save to your Organizer Email to a Friend Print-friendly version Institution: Tacoma Community College Location: Tacoma, WA Category: Faculty - Medicine - Nursing Posted: 09/25/2013 Type: Part-Time/Adjunct This position is a responsible, qualified, licensed RN or LPN, capable of assessing, planning, implementing, instructing and evaluating educational programs in the field of nursing assistant. Responsibilities for this position include classroom teaching of theory and supervision of trainees during clinical training. The Nursing Assistant Certification (NAC) instructor must be positive, responsive, and a motivational role model for trainees. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate educational programs for students pursuing both the certified nursing assistant certifications. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current state and federal requirements related to nursing assistants. Maintain accurate records, schedules, and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content. Evaluate and document trainee programs through testing, observation and assessment of skills attained. Communicate effectively with trainees, fellow team members, supervisor and including staff at extended care facility. Perform other related duties. Minimum Qualifications Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing recognized by the State of Washington. Must possess a valid and current Washington State LPN or RN license. Must be computer-literate with competence in Microsoft Word and Outlook. One (1) year experience teaching in classroom setting. One (1) to two (2) years of experience in direct nursing care in a long term care facility within the past five (5) years. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree or higher in nursing from an accredited college or university. Conditions of Employment Successfully complete a criminal history background check prior to employment. Must have a valid Washington State Drivers License and have own transportation. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. as well as satisfactorily work with patients who need assistance with moving. The Successful Candidate will Demonstrate Professional and courteous interactions with students, faculty, and staff. Dynamic, non-traditional delivery methods to teach students of widely varying levels of proficiency and from diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles. Experience using computers as an instructional aid in and out of the classroom to enhance learning. An appreciation of diversity and the benefits of a commitment to cultural awareness and sensitivity in the workplace. Excellent customer service skills; including establishing, building, and maintaining internal/external customer satisfaction. Ethics and integrity. Must be detail-oriented and organized. Must be reliable and trustworthy in handling confidential information. Maintain professional growth in nursing expertise and instructional skills in accordance with state and federal requirements. Provide a stimulating environment that encourages participation, interpersonal skills development and comprehension of concepts of safe patient care.
